Texas Rangers fans sing along to Creed's 'Higher' during ALDS

Rangers fans appeared to embrace their team’s newfound love of Creed “With Arms Wide Open” during the series-clinching Game 3 of the ALDS.
After pitcher Andrew Heaney revealed that the secret to the ballclub’s success was the famous rock band, Globe Life Field’s DJ, Chris Statzer, made sure to have it lined up on Tuesday night as the team took on the Orioles.
And the fans responded in turn, belting out the lyrics to “Higher” as it blared over the stadium speakers with the lyrics flashing across the video board in the outfield before the Rangers won the series with a 7-1 rout.
Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthall reported during the broadcast that the players have listened to the band while on the team bus and even have special handshakes to go along with the songs.

The embrace of the band, formed in the 1990s, may seem odd to many — especially since many of the current Rangers players were likely too young to remember Creed when it was at its peak.
Nevertheless, Statzer said it seemed to fit the team and fans.
“If that’s not the most Texas Rangers thing, then I don’t know what is man,” the DJ told WFAA before Game 3. “This team has done some incredible things already. I’m just like, man it’s always the — for lack of a better word — the weirder things that make things click. That’s what it’s all about, man, having fun and enjoying the game of baseball.”
After the win on Tuesday night, pitcher Nathan Eovaldi said he’s happy the fans have embraced the song as much as the team has.
“We started that the second half and I’m glad [the fans] are taking onto it because any time we can get them more involved with our games, it’s incredible,” the starter told MLB’s social media.

Rangers manager Bruce Bochy admitted to reporters Monday that he wasn’t too familiar with the band’s song catalog but was aware that the team had been playing a lot of the music.
He also said he didn’t know which Rangers player even started the phenomenon.
Considering the way the Rangers have played through the playoffs thus far, it’s likely that baseball fans will be hearing a bit more Creed before the postseason comes to an end.
The Rangers, after winning Game 3 of the ALDS, now make their first trip to the ALCS since 2011.
